Strategic advisory services firm The Chertoff Group hired FOX Architects to design their new office space on two floors. Since the client specializes in security issues, the primary challenge was creating a light-filled, modern space with strategic, secure access points. Our design team needed to balance the need for restricted access to certain parts of the space with the desire for maximizing views of the White House.
Stepping off the elevator and into the reception, visitors are greeted by an abundance of natural light and panoramic views to notable landmarks. The adjoining flexible conference center opens to the reception for larger events with a moveable glass wall. By surrounding the existing connecting stair in glass, we created a secure entry point that restricts visitor access and maintains dynamic views and natural light. New, in-office amenities enable flexible work options and places for teambuilding and camaraderie, such as a multi-functional café and lounge. We balanced the sleek, modern aesthetic of the reception and conference center with warmer wood tones that provide a more intimate sense of sophistication. Connecting these spaces, a dark floor tile datum provides wayfinding from both sides of the elevator lobby.
The Chertoff Group’s new office is bright and sophisticated, welcoming visitors into a dynamic, multi-functional space for events, yet with the level of security that meets their needs as an exclusive advisory firm.
