For law firm Smith Pachter McWhorter, our cost challenge was identifying what could be repurposed from their old space, without limiting the effectiveness of our new design solutions in the renovated space. Our aim was to help the firm work more efficiently by addressing how space is allocated. The former library and workroom spaces were too small to properly support the firm’s business practices, and we needed to create new spaces to accommodate these needs.
The newly renovated space minimizes the impact of the library footprint by integrating it with the café. Other shared support spaces are collocated to improve efficiency and flow. An updated reception and new conference center bookend the elevator lobby. A coffee bar and breakout area enhance the client arrival and meeting experience. The collaboration spaces work together to create a hub of activity, and the glass-enclosed café creates a new destination within the office. Classic materials warm up the space and add texture. We used natural stone, porcelain tile, wood tones, and modern, dark bronze accents.
The renovated Smith Pachter McWhorter space creates an inviting, new experience for the firm’s employees and guests. We significantly improved the efficiency of the firm’s office by creating a layout that makes the best use of what the firm needs and how they work.
