An impactful organization, the National Governors Association wanted a space to weave together a network
of people to better serve their mission. The goal was to create a space that promoted internal connections
that would in turn create external influence amongst the nation’s Governors.
Through the use of materiality and radiused forms, the design team created a warm and inviting space that
supports the culture and mission of the National Governors Association. Rich brand colors, natural tones
and warm wood textures create a balance that is welcoming to the nation’s governors that visit the space.
Natural light floods the interior through the perimeter glazing, where the open work areas are housed, to
allow light in and to provide access to exterior views. Branding elements highlight NGA’s mission and were
integrated into a central axis, which connects the public common space to the private work area.
The new office space, located by the US Capitol, fully captures the client’s vision and represents the
association’s mission. As the voice of our nation’s governors, NGA now has a space to host their members
– the governors of the 55 states, territories and commonwealths. With NGA’s brand and identity prominent,
members feel proud to be part of the organization and can enjoy the inviting atmosphere that the space
offers. The design team was able to successfully create a physical environment that supports the clients
needs functionally and reflects the image of NGA.
