Challenge
The recently renovated Colonial Place at Courthouse Metro brings a touch of modern elegance to the Arlington Courthouse neighborhood. The 750,000 SF space boasts of state-of-art amenity spaces and tenant suites. FOX Architects was tasked with creating a fully-equipped 3,000 SF Conferencing Center amenity space, capable of accommodating 100 people and consistent with the same luxurious standard for the three buildings on the complex.
Solution
Drawing inspiration from their newly renovated lobbies, which greet visitors with a living wall of plants, the Conference Center amenity space achieves a calming environment with soothing tones & patterns drawing from nature, ushering in natural light and indirect light features. High ceilings in addition to various seating arrangements provide a welcoming environment equipped with sections for relaxation and small group socialization. Break-out zones and a café with built-in banquet seating were added to support conferencing events. The biophilic design inspiration, can be found in the wood elements in the conference room ceiling and continues in the selected tile, which emulates wood and adds warm tones.
Impact
The addition of the Conference Center has been well received by the tenants at Colonial Place for its style and functionality.
