WASHINGTON, DC (February 2, 2021) – FOX Architects, an interdisciplinary architecture and interior design firm, announced today the promotion of Marie Moutsos, IIDA, from Associate to Principal. This promotion is a result of a series of advancements the firm has taken as part of its new strategic plan.
“I am very honored to celebrate Marie Moutsos’ elevation to the role of Principal within FOX Architects. Marie’s a wonderful person and her unique talents have made a significant contribution to our firm and its growth for more than 15 years. She has continued to bring a high level of sophistication to our designs, always championing innovation and leading our clients to create better environments,” said JP Spickler, FAIA, Design Principal, FOX Architects. “I am personally very grateful to have Marie as a colleague, and I am excited that she is a key part of the leadership and future of this firm.”
Marie joined FOX Architects in July 2005 and has been instrumental in setting and implementing the interior design standards for the firm. She has helped guide and advise design teams on projects, providing overall design direction to ensure consistency throughout each project. In 2017, Marie was appointed to Associate where she took on a leadership role, promoting the firm’s goals and core values, while continuing to provide mentorship and guidance to peers and her clients alike. As an interior design expert, she has designed more than 1.5 million square feet of corporate commercial office space for law firms, associations and nonprofits, government contractors, and consulting firms, among others.
Several of Marie’s most notable projects include the recently completed office of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), the largest member association representing the accounting profession located in New York City; ASHP, an association that advocates and supports the professional practice of pharmacists located in Bethesda, Maryland, and the recipient of the NAIOP DC|MD Award of Excellence; MOI, a commercial furniture solutions provider headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, and the winner of AIA Baltimore’s People’s Choice Award; the Nuclear Energy Institute, a policy organization located in Washington, DC, and the recipient of the IIDA Pinnacle Award, IIDA Gold Award, and the NAIOP Award of Merit; Wilkinson Walsh, a boutique law firm located in Washington, DC, which received an Honorable Mention from the International Design Awards (IDA); and the firm’s own office, which relocated to the West End of Washington, DC, and received an AIA Northern Virginia Design Award, a NAIOP Award of Merit, and a Fitwel 3 Star Rating.
“This is a well-deserved achievement for Marie, and a significant milestone for our firm. We are truly excited to have her join the principal group, and we look forward to her contributions, insights and fresh perspective,” said Derek Wood, Managing Principal, FOX Architects.
Marie is an NCIDQ accredited professional, a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Catholic University of America. When Marie is not working, she can be found spending time with her husband, two teenage daughters, and mother at their home in Washington, DC or camping on the beaches of the Eastern Shore.
